We co moderated the 2020 edition of Coat Of Many Colours which was an online discourse held on July 25,2020 due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.

The event was set to track the development of social work in Africa with focus on Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa and how African governments have given due importance to the work of the social worker in the support system for their citizens, especially children and youth with special needs due to mental health issues and other physical challenges and their families.

On the panel of discussion were professional social workers such as Prof. Uzoma Odera Okoye of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. From South Africa, we had Prof. Sithole Sello of the University of Limpopo. Also on the panel was Mr. Loggah of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare as well as Ms. Dinah Lawson, Founder, The Vision School, Accra, Ghana among hundreds of other participants.

The event attracted participants from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, United Kingdom and United States of America.

At the end of the discussions, it was agreed that African governments have not placed the right value on social work which has resulted in the suffering parents and families of the children go through to raise them into useful citizens who can be independent and earn a living for themselves.
